Success. The thing everyone wants to achieve as if their life and worth depends and gravitates around it. We all strive to get there, share quotes about it and mark it as our number one goal. We see people dedicating their whole life to it, making tremendous sacrifices in order to accomplish the level of success desired, but what’s the point of it in the end?
Thousands of recipes are sold daily by the media on ‘how to become successful’ and slowly we begin to incorporate goals that are not even ours in the first place. That’s why it doesn’t work. That’s why you don’t make progress. You can’t achieve something that you don’t even deeply desire. Just because we created a mental picture of what success means and how it’s supposed to look like, it doesn’t mean we should put a label on ourselves. There is no such thing as the definition of success. You’re the one who gives it a meaning. It can be whatever you want, as long as it makes sense to you. Success may equal health and love to you, not a six-figure salary, a luxurious house and a nice car. But if success means all those things to you, that’s alright.
Deciding is freedom. Indecision is torture
I’m not here to share the secret of how to become successful with you. My intention is rather to bring awareness and make you conscious about your decisions. Tune in with your inner being and ask yourself what your goals and ambitions really are, what inspires you, what makes you thrive. Be honest while answering and things will clarify themselves naturally. Once you know what you truly want from this existence, the definition of success will come along.
We are creatures of emotion, thought and desire. Desiring something is completely natural as it is a manifestation of power. So the only advice I can give you is to keep moving, keep growing, keep pushing through obstacles, keep evolving. The so-called ‘key’ is to have a dream that inspires you to go beyond your limits. Don’t waste time and jump in the deep and follow your fantasies.
When we share what we were brought here to give, we are in alignment with our highest, most powerful selves. That’s why it is so important to ‘find what you love and give all of your energy to it’. Cause, in the end, life is just a manifestation where you invest your energy. And it’s happening right now, so don’t snooze and lose.
I would love to conclude this article with a quote that I deeply resonate with:
Don’t aim at success-the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one’s dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one’s surrender to a person other than oneselfAlan watts
